Welcome to Hotel Talisi!!!

Mrs. Pam Gates,Co-Owner
Welcome to Hotel Talisi...to yesteryear...to the spirit of the roaring 20s...to great southern hospitality and food so good you'll think that your own mama's in the kitchen.
Welcome to small town warmth, comfort, style and charm...the likes of which have all but disappeared from every corner of the country, but have been preserved on this corner in Tallassee for over 80 years.
The hotel was opened in 1928, with three floors, 72 rooms with baths and a restaurant/coffee shop. It was built by two brothers, Dan and Jacob Marion Woodall and they named it the Woodall Hotel. The original ground floor of the hotel building, in addition to the hotel lobby and coffee shop, once housed two adult clothing stores, a finance office, a variety store, a beauty shop and a children's clothing store. After 1962, walls were removed and virtually all ground-floor space was consumed for what is now the hotel's massive dining areas, which seats about 400. In 1962, the Woodalls sold the hotel to Mr. & Mrs. Patterson which later changed the name to Hotel Talisi, using the original spelling of the Creek Indians for the village they inhabited along the Tallapoosa River.
In 1991, the Pattersons old Hotel Talisi to Bob Brown and Roger Gaither and renovations began to take place. They made changes to the kitchen, dinning romms and the overall hotel. The second floor originally contained 36 rooms, each with its own bath, when the hotel opened in 1928. Today, the number of rooms has been reduced to 19. The current owners hope to open the third floor as apartments in the future.
The Hotel Talisi is not only known nationally, but internationally. Word-of-mouth testimonials have brought visitors/guests from England, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Russia, Japan, Hong Kong (China), Iran, Canada, Mexico, Korea and other foreign countries. They like the hospitality, inexpensive lodging, and the fine food at the Hotel Talisi.
The Hotel Talisi is a piece of history and welcomes all visitors from every end of the world. We hope that you find Hotel Talisi to be your stop when visiting friends and family here in Tallassee, Alabama.
